The McCoy Case 001-002-99

CLICK FOR LARGER PHOTO On September 12th, 1999, around 3:00 am on Sunday morning, a shooting occurred at a location off Callahan Rd and Lucy Rd known as the Hog Pen. This area was frequented by young people for its dance contest. The victim, Damarcus McCoy had been at the location with several friends when a fight broke out and people started to run from the area back to their vehicles. Damarcus McCoy and a friend got to the parking lot near their vehicle when several shots were fired. One shot struck Damarcus McCoy in the head and he fell to the ground. Friends with Damarcus put him in their car and rushed him to Good Shepherd Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators interviewed numerous witnesses about this case, but have been unable to determine the identity of the shooter.

The Hudgins Case 0900-043-81

No Case Photo Gregg County Crime Stoppers is seeking information concerning a Homicide Case in 1981. On October 17th, 1981, Kilgore Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at the Clarence Hudgins res.; which was located off Hwy 135, north of the Kilgore City Limits in Gregg County. Upon arrival, fire fighters found the body of Clarence Hudgins lying outside the residence. Clarence Hudgins had died from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Suspects had apparently started a fire outside the residence and when Clarence Hudgins exited the house, he was mortally wounded by unknown gunman.
Sheriff’s Investigators, Kilgore Police Detectives and the Texas Ranger initiated an investigation into the murder of Clarence Hudgins, following several investigative leads; however the case was not solved and remains unsolved to date. Clarence Hudgins at the time of his death was a Kilgore Businessman and owner of Kilgore Sandblasting and Painting Company.
